New FM role at Johnson Fellows

Leading chartered surveyors Johnson Fellows has appointed a facilities manager to head a new department as part of its expansion plans.

Chris Monteith joins the West Midlands firm from Chorley-based FMCS Ltd and will oversee the facilities management work across the entire Johnson Fellows portfolio.

Chris, a 29-year-old University of Birmingham philosophy and sociology graduate, has seven years’ experience in the FM sector, having worked for DTZ as a roving facilities manager and beginning his career at Midcounties Co-op in the support services and property management department.

“It’s an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing company that has a solid reputation in the West Midlands and beyond,” said Chris, who is working towards his Associate RICS qualification.

“Facilities management is a vital role that goes beyond health and safety compliance – it’s about ensuring that the building environment works to maximum efficiency and that management contracts offer value for money.”

Angela Sheen, partner at Johnson Fellows, which is based in Newhall Street, Birmingham, said it was the first time it had appointed a dedicated FM manager.

“Although we have always undertaken a high standard of facilities management work, appointing a dedicated manager for this very specialised field means we can provide an even better service to all our clients,” she said.

“Chris will be a real asset for us and we will be developing our FM service over the coming months.”

Chris is the latest appointment to be announced alongside Johnson Fellows’ solid growth over the past few years. Angela Sheen and Ian Starbuck have been appointed partners, while Stuart Bridgewater has been promoted to associate partner.

Johnson Fellows, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, has established itself as one of the region’s leading independent chartered surveying practices, specialising in property management, professional services, building consultancy and more recently valuation, rating and industrial agency.

Earlier this year, it took over Salway Bradbury, based in Solihull, consolidating further its reputation on both the regional and national stage.
